Extending the learning – Upstander Activity for the classroom

Inspired by stories of survival and bravery documented in the Courage to Care Remarkable Stories of Rescue During
WWII
anthologies, the following lesson sequence and resources are designed to empower students to make meaningful
change in their communities and the wider world around them – to make the choice to be an Upstander rather than a
bystander.

The following resources have been developed by teachers to scaffold a Year 8-12 class through a lesson sequence in
their own classrooms after students have participated in the Courage to Care Upstander Program (SYP). The lessons
are a scalable and flexible sequence catering for a diverse range of learners, and with options provided for a variety
of lesson timeframes.
