Not long ago, many of us never imagined we would see such blatant acts of hatred unfolding here in Australia. Swastikas scrawled on places of worship. A synagogue firebombed. Fifteen people murdered at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi – among them, a 10-year-old girl.
We are all living with the weight of this past year. And we have all now witnessed the deadly cost of hate left unchecked on Australian soil.
But we must also remember: antisemitism does not exist in isolation. It is one expression of a broader pattern of hatred and discrimination that puts every community at risk. When any group is targeted, the fabric of our whole society is threatened.
At Courage to Care, we’re striving to create a world where every young person feels safe, seen and respected – regardless of their faith, background or identity.
Through our Upsander education programs, Courage to Care works at the point where change is the most powerful: education.

- 91% of students improve their awareness of safe responses to discrimination
- 89% increase their understanding of bystander and Upstander behaviour
- 93% of teachers recommend our programs to their peers
