Courage to Care was proudly represented at this year’s Australian Council for Health and Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER) State Conference, held over two days at Monash University, Clayton. The conference attracts 700–800 delegates, including primary and secondary HPE teachers, wellbeing coordinators, school leaders, and a range of like-minded organisations.

This year, we participated as both a Gold Exhibitor and a program presenter. Karen maclean our Education Manaager delivered a one-hour workshop, Understanding Upstander Behaviour: Empowering Students to Take Safe and Effective Action, which highlighted our evidence-based approach to building students’ confidence and capacity to act safely in challenging social situations.

Why ACHPER? Our program and online lesson plans align strongly with the Health and Physical Education curriculum, particularly the Personal, Social and Community Health strand, through our focus on stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination, and the development of protective behaviours.

Overall, it was a very positive experience that enabled us to form new connections and strengthen existing partnerships.
