The Committee of Management of Courage to Care (Vic.) believes Australia has a responsibility to protect those Afghans who assisted Australia, the United States and other countries during the last 20 years of occupation of their country. These people are now at risk of persecution and death. We have grave concerns for women and girls. Their freedoms are now severely jeopardised.
We appreciate the assistance that is currently being offered but strongly support the Australian Government giving maximum assistance to Afghans wishing to escape the rule of the Taliban.
