This month Survivor Speaker Volunteer George Deutsch represented Courage to Care at Carey Baptist Grammar School’s Refugee Week initiative. George spoke to the students about hisexperiences during World War Two in France and later in Australia as well as our Upstander message.

Middle School Chaplain Scott Bramley lit a candle before introducing George and reminded the students that the the theme for Refugee Week 2026 is a “A Million Stories.”

In attendance were over 200 Year 9 students plus a number of staff including the middle school co-ordinator.

Scott’s words to George after the event: “thank you for presenting such an inspiring message to students and staff who will use your call to be upstanders to change our world for the better.”

A big thank you to George for being such an amazing Courage to Care ambassador.
