Australia is facing a dramatic increase in social issues resulting from COVID-19. At the same time, we have seen a disturbing increase in hate speech, racism and antisemitism.

The good news is, that’s precisely what our Upstander Programs are designed to address.

Delivered by dedicated volunteers and creating awareness of the dangers of prejudice, our programs empower people of all ages to stand up and take positive action. They inspire participants to be Upstanders, transforming bystander behaviour.

We have delivered our Upstander Programs to more than 142,000 students across Victoria, at no cost to schools. With our 30th birthday only two years away, we’ve set our sights on an ambitious target: to reach an additional 30,000 students by 2022. We call it our 30/30 vision.

This has been a year of anxiety and uncertainty for so many. Support for the continuation of our work is needed now more than ever. By teaching students the messages of those who stood up in the most challenging of circumstances, we can all be Upstanders and build a strong, cohesive society.

It is our supporters, financial, moral and in-kind, who have made this possible. Download our 2019 Annual Review for details of our year of achievement and our plans to reach even higher.
