Thought-provoking conversations to inform our lives as Upstanders

Held on the second Friday of the month, every second month, each Conversation focuses on a topic affecting contemporary society. Feel uplifted, more informed, more engaged and and better equipped to speak on the issues.

Coming up: “Moral Outrage” – Friday 13 March, 10.00am – 12.00pm.

We now live in a society where information is at our fingertips, and everyone has a platform to express their opinion. But what happens when you encounter someone who disagrees with you? Are they wrong, or are you? These days, disagreement often feels less like a conversation and more like a moral showdown. The question worth exploring isn’t “who’s right?”, but how we can stay curious, respectful, and connected when someone sees the world very differently from us.

Listen: Age of rage: the psychology behind our moral outrage

Read: Time Magazine – When Facts Fall Short | Uncivil Wars: How contempt is corroding democracy | Is rising inequality fuelling our moral outrage?

Watch: Why we fight about morality and politics

You don’t have to review all the material! But you will get the most out of the Conversation if you review just one or two resources in advance. If you don’t have time to prepare, come along anyway! All ideas and reflections are welcome.
