Alkira Secondary College, a non-denominational school in Cranbourne North, has over 1,000 students, most of whom are not Jewish. Each year the school holds an annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony, conducted by the students. This is their 11th year!

It’s uplifting when you hear students assert about the Holocaust; ‘We must never forget. It should never have happened. We must never let it happen again.’

Courage to Care supports this wonderful initiative and encourages other schools to consider holding similar events. This year Courage to Care invited new Brighton Secondary College Principal Anne Strout who attended with her School Captains.

It was wonderful to see Multicultural Commissioner Viv Nguyen attend as well.

Special thank you to our volunteers Les Kausman and Tony Weldon for coordinating with the school and to Peter Gaspar for sharing his survivor testimony with the students.
