We are delighted that Karen Maclean is joining us as our Education Manager effective 6th  January 2025.

This revised role will report help us manage our increasing activity and continue to build on our amazing educational programs that have been so ably led by Zoi Juvris.  We would like to acknowledge the contribution that Zoi has made “wearing so many hats.”  Karen will free up Zoi to concentrate as our Training Manager on the vital role of training our existing and new volunteers.

The educational integrity of our programs is the cornerstone of Courage to Care and we want to do everything to ensure we continue to be respected for the relevance and positive impact of our programs.

Karen has a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) and a Bachelor of  Applied Science (Human Movement) with majors in Physiology and Biochemistry.

Karen also has extensive school experience having been an expert classroom teacher (Science, PE/Health, Maths (year 7-9), VCE Health and Human Development, VCE Physical Education, and performed leadership roles as PE Faculty Coordinator, Sports Coordinator, and Year 7 Wellbeing Coordinator.

For the last six years Karen has been the Education Specialist within Road Safety Victoria for the Department of Transport and Planning. Her role included recruitment, training and mentoring road safety educators; curriculum/content strategic reviews; educational professional development for teachers; policy and program development and school support.

All this experience aligns very well with our offering into schools and the wider community.
