Our Programs

Two students from your class are sitting together near the front of the bus. You are sitting well behind them. At the next stop a student with dark skin from another school gets on and sits next to them. They stand up immediately and move to other seats, throwing some ugly looks at the new student as they move away. They begin to make racist comments in loud voices intended to be overheard, like, “What’s that stink? I smell curry.”

The rest of the bus is quiet, with other passengers pointedly looking away. What do you do?

Sadly, racist incidents like this are not uncommon. Sadder still is the unwillingness of others to act.

Courage to Care offers programs that explore racism, prejudice, discrimination and bullying, in history and in contemporary society, to inspire transformation from bystander to upstander behaviour.

THE COURAGE TO CARE calendar is planned 12 – 24 months in advance.
