MODEL WORKSHOP

Experience the full impact of the Courage to Care program! This is a full workshop – be prepared to be challenged and involved, with an opportunity for questions. Limited to 20 participants.
The workshops have been cancelled in line with Courage to Care COVID-19 response 

 

SECONDARY YEARS PROGRAM DELIVERY Years 8-12

SYP L1: Introduction to program delivery

Entry level training. Program overview and workshop structure , covering team roles and dynamics, child safety protocols, key program messages, explanation of the mentoring process, and the fundamentals of facilitation.
In addition to formal training all trainees participate in hands-on apprenticeship and are partnered with a Buddy for mentoring support.

SYP L2: facilitation plan development 

A comprehensive dissection of the C2C facilitation template  to assist facilitators to develop their individual facilitation plan.

SYP L3: Whole team delivery intensive

Mandatory for SYP organisers, facilitators and team leaders. This unit covers team dynamics and processes, workshop structure and timing, administrative requirements, facilitation template, issues of volunteer safety, difficult questions, assertiveness, understanding the bystander effect, upstander toolkit.

– Open to current and trainee facilitators, organisers, team leaders, and survivor speakers
– Prerequisites: Introduction to Courage to Care, SYP L1

MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAM DELIVERY Years 5-8

MYP 1: Whole team delivery intensive

Program overview and workshop structure of our middle years program (years 5 – 8).
This formal unit explores team roles and dynamics, child safety protocols, key program messages, and provides a thorough grounding in delivering the program. Formal unit is a precursor to hands-on apprenticeship, as all trainees are required to observe workshops being delivered to gain a full understanding of the program.

NEW: TRAINING FOR MENTORS – Buddies and lead Facilitators

To support and enhance training for volunteers new to the Secondary Years Program, trainees will now be partnered with a buddy – an experienced facilitator especially trained to be a sounding board, guide and adviser through the entire training period. Buddies help trainees come to grips with resources, to develop a robust facilitation plan, and practice their skills.

If you have completed SYP L1 and don’t yet have a Buddy, please call me and we’ll buddy you up!  Alternatively, if you are an experienced facilitator and are keen to help others to become competent facilitators, call me to register for upcoming Mentoring training

Role of Buddies and Lead Facilitators; mentoring skills and vocabulary for feedback to trainees; administrative requirements. 
Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 years current facilitation experience in SYP.
